The Aircraft General Knowledge

AUTHOR · Capt. Gunjan Dua

The Aircraft General Knowledge (DGCA exam preparation)

About the Book

Aircraft Technical & General is a comprehensive guide for aspiring pilots, aviation students, and enthusiasts, covering flight mechanics, aircraft systems, and propulsion. It explains Newton’s laws, stability, stalling, climbing, descending, and turning, along with systems like hydraulics, fuel, electricals, and ice protection.

About Author

To be a Commercial Pilot is to be a master of systems. While the world sees the grace of an aircraft in flight, the pilot sees a complex symphony of physics, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics. This book is designed to pull back the curtain on that symphony. We begin with the immutable laws of Newton and Bernoulli—not as abstract concepts, but as the invisible hands that hold your wings in the air.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to apply for CPL training?
You must have already cleared 12th with Physics and Maths to start. You will also require a valid Class 1 Medical Certificate and must possess English-language proficiency that you are comfortable with, as it is the language of aviation globally.
On average, students complete the flying training program in about 15–18 months. Also, 3 months of ground classes for the DGCA exam are included. Exact timelines may change a bit depending on weather and flying schedules.
You’ll be trained on modern, well-maintained single- and multi-engine aircraft through our partner flying clubs. Which one you fly depends on where you are in your training — early stages look different from your final skill tests.
Two exams. The DGCA theory exam and the RTR(A) exam, which checks how well you handle radio communication and emergencies in the cockpit. Both need proper prep, and that’s exactly what our ground classes are built around.
DGCA requires a minimum of 200 hours before you’re eligible for a CPL. These hours different types of flying, so you’re actually prepared for real weather and not merely the test.
A CPL opens the doors to various positions, including corporate pilot, cargo pilot, flight instructor, and charter pilot. A lot of pilots use it as a way to build their hours, an intermediate step on the road towards obtaining an ATPL and ultimately flying larger commercial planes.
